Indian Wedding Fashion

Sari is traditional Indian clothing. Colors play a vital role in the Indian wedding and it also represents our heritage and culture. Red is the favorite color of most brides in India. Red and red tones are preferred in Indian weddings for the bride. Lehenga, sari suits Kameez all are red for the "D" day.



Yellow color is also used in many Indian wedding. It is linked to prosperity, and indicate that the good harvest of wheat and mustard. A haldi where clothes became yellow ceremony is held at the wedding. In Maharashtria bride wears a yellow silk given by his maternal uncle bid sari performing. Kangra region from the side of the maternal aunt gives a yellow Cholas in a phera ceremony. In Bihar and Uttar Pradesh yellow sari is equipped with the bride for the wedding of her grandmother.
The white color symbolizes purity and usually the faith. A bride wears a white Gujrati for jaimala function sari. Assamese brides put the white traditional sari with a Zari border. The bride is a typical Malyali sari colour cream, Gold-edged. A bride wears white Bengali sari with red or brown border sari for her Pooja ceremony.

The word Sari is derived from the Prakrit word, 'Sadi' and a 'Sanskrit' word-'Sati'.  Interestingly, India is not the only country in the world where Sari is worn, but in fact, Sari is popular in countries like, Bangladesh, Srilanka, Nepal, Burma, Mauritius, Malaysia and Bhutan as well.
